A Love Poem

Edvard Munch, The Kiss

Love hides deep in your mind, ready to pounce at any moment.
She bares a skin-tight devil's costume of red and black,
Love does as love wants.

This poem is about love. Love isn't used the most in this novel, but what is mentioned is some of the most important information. In the beginning of the novel when Santiago meets the merchant's daughter, he thinks he loves her even though he only spent 2 hours with her. If he really loved her, he wouldn't have gone on his journey to find his destiny. Towards the end of the novel, he finds out that he is in love with Fatima, a woman of the desert. I chose this picture, because you never know who's going to be your prince/princess until you've kissed a few frogs.
